Open interest screener

Open interest is the number of contracts still open at the previous settlement. Changes in it show where positions were added or closed overnight.

OptionsScreenerPro ranks contracts by open-interest change and surge ratio, next to the session volume that may change it tomorrow.

What it shows

  • Open interest and its change since the prior settlement
  • OI surge ratio against the previous session
  • Volume / OI
  • Chain totals and the put/call OI ratio

How to use it

  1. Open Reports and choose an open-interest report.
  2. Sort by OI change or OI surge ratio.
  3. Add the symbols you follow to a watchlist.

Questions

Why does open interest not move during the day?

It is published once a day by the clearing house, so today's trades show up in tomorrow's open interest.

Does rising open interest mean new buyers?

It means more contracts are open; every contract has a buyer and a seller.

Is the data delayed?

Yes. Open interest is end of day, and quotes are delayed; both are labelled.
