Money flow by stock report
Underlyings ranked by total approximate premium traded across their chain, with call and put volume, plus the top contracts of one symbol.
Overview
The Money flow by stock report adds up the approximate premium traded across each symbol's whole option chain and ranks the symbols. Pick a symbol to also see its top 50 contracts by traded amount.
The data delay depends on your plan and is shown on every view: the as-of time and the delayed label sit above the results. On the Free plan reports show the previous session.
How the report is built
- Opens on the Top 10 Option Money Flow Leaders (Approx.) of the latest session.
- Choose a symbol to see its summary row and its top contracts; choose all symbols with a date to list every symbol of that session.
- Total Traded Amount = premium traded summed over every call and put of the chain.
Before you start
Any signed-in plan can open the report from Research → Reports. Your plan decides how fresh the data is and how much history you can read. CSV export needs a plan that includes it.
Steps
- Open Research → Reports, choose Money Flow and open Money flow by stock.
- Pick a symbol (or all symbols) and, optionally, a Date.
- Press Run.
- Use Export CSV to download the rows (plans with CSV export).
Report inputs
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| Symbol | One symbol, or all symbols. |
| Date | Optional session date; blank = the latest session your plan can read. |
Columns and metrics
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| # | Rank by traded amount. |
| Symbol | The underlying. |
| Total Traded Amount (Approx.) | Approximate premium traded across the chain, USD. |
| Total Option Volume | Contracts traded across the chain. |
| Total Call Volume / Total Put Volume | The call and put split, each with its share of the total. |
| Stock Price | The underlying price. |
| Date | The session. |
Percentages are stored as fractions and displayed as percentages (0.05 is shown as 5 %). An unknown value shows as "-", never as 0.
How to read it
- Symbols with a high traded amount but modest volume trade expensive contracts.
- The second grid (one symbol) shows which contracts made up the total.
Example
Illustrative only - the symbol and numbers are invented.
XYZ: Total Traded Amount (Approx.) $12,500,000, Total Option Volume 90,000, Total Call Volume 54,000 (60 %), Total Put Volume 36,000 (40 %), Stock Price $100.
Using it in your research
- Rank the market by option dollars rather than contracts.
- Drill into a symbol to see whether a few contracts dominate its total.
Treat every row as a starting point for your own research, not as a signal. Volume and open interest never say whether a trade was a buy or a sell.
Troubleshooting
Money flow differs from another site
It is an approximation from delayed snapshots, not a sum of executed trades.
The report shows "No Records Found"
The filters may be too narrow for the session, or the session has only just opened. Widen a threshold, clear the symbol, or check the as-of time to see which session you are reading. On the Free plan you read the previous session.
