Describe a screen in plain English
Type what you are looking for, such as "calls with IV rank above 60 and volume over 1,000", and get a checked screen with a live count before you save it.
Overview
On Saved screens, the box Describe a screen in plain English turns a sentence into screen filters. Every filter is checked against the list of screenable fields before you see it, and the screen is run once so you see how many contracts or stocks match now. Nothing is saved until you choose Save screen.
- Common wording (IV rank, volume, open interest, delta, expiry) is understood without AI.
- Other wording is drafted by AI from your sentence only (no account data), then checked the same way. The badge says which one happened.
- Anything that is not a screenable field is listed under Not supported, left out. A value outside a metric's range, such as an IV rank above 100 % or negative days to expiry, is listed there too.
- Percentage metrics such as IV rank and implied volatility are stored as fractions. When the AI writes "IV rank above 70", it is read as 70 % (0.7) and the line under Assumed says so.
The same box is on the Options screener and Stock screener pages, folded under Describe a screen in plain English. There the type is fixed to the screener you are on.
Before you start
- AI drafting uses your plan's daily AI answers. Without AI, the words understood in code still work.
Steps
- Open Saved screens (or a screener page, and expand Describe a screen in plain English).
- Type a sentence in Describe a screen in plain English. On Saved screens, choose Options or Stocks.
- Choose Draft screen.
- Check the filter chips and the match count. Read Assumed for any choice made for you.
- Enter a name in Save as and choose Save screen, then Open in the screener.
Example
Calls on XYZ with IV rank above 60 and volume over 1,000 gives the chips IV rank > 0.6, Volume > 1000 and Right = C, with 12 matches now. Saving it adds Calls on XYZ with IV rank above 60... to your saved screens.
Troubleshooting
- "No filter was understood" - name a metric from the metric glossary, for example IV rank or open interest.
- "Too many drafts" - wait a few minutes; drafting is rate-limited.
