Signing in and keeping your account secure
How to sign in with e-mail and password or Google, why you must verify your e-mail, how sessions and devices work, and what we do when something looks wrong.
Overview
You can sign in to OptionsScreenerPro in two ways:
- E-mail and password. This is always available.
- Continue with Google. This appears on the sign-in page when Google sign-in is turned on for the site.
The sign-in page only shows the options that work right now. If you do not see a Google button, use your e-mail and password.
Your session lasts up to 30 days on each device. It is kept in secure browser cookies. It is never put in a link or in the page address.
Before you start
- To create an account you need an e-mail address you can open. We send a verification link to it.
- A Google account must have a verified e-mail address with Google. If it does not, we refuse the sign-in.
Steps
Create an account with e-mail and password
- Open Create account at
/register. - Enter your name, e-mail address and a password. The checklist under the field shows the password rules (see Passwords and account recovery).
- Select Create account. You are signed in straight away.
- Open the e-mail we sent and select Verify email. The link works for 24 hours. Until you verify, a banner asks you to do so.
Sign in with Google
- On
/login, select Continue with Google. - Choose your Google account.
- If this is your first visit, we create your account on the Free plan and send a welcome e-mail.
If you already have an account with the same e-mail address and have verified it, Google is added to that account. Your password keeps working, and you can use either method from then on.
Sign out of other devices
- Changing or resetting your password signs out every other device straight away.
- Signing out on one device ends only that device's session.
FAQs
Why must I verify my e-mail address? Verification proves that the address belongs to you. Some features, such as e-mail alerts and reports, need a verified address.
Someone registered my address before me. What happens? Sign in with Google using that address. Google proves the address is yours. We then remove the password the other person set, sign out all their sessions and e-mail you to say we did. This only happens if the earlier account was never verified.
Can I turn off e-mail and password sign-in? No. E-mail and password is always available, so you can always get back into your account.
Troubleshooting
| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "That account has no verified e-mail address with the provider" | Google did not confirm your address. | Verify the address with Google, or use e-mail and password. |
| "This sign-in option is not available right now" | That sign-in method is turned off on this site. | Use e-mail and password. |
| "New sign-ups are paused right now" | We have temporarily closed new accounts. | Try again later. Existing members can still sign in. |
| "The sign-in took too long or was started in another browser" | The Google step took more than 10 minutes, or it finished in a different browser. | Start again from /login in the same browser. |
| "Invalid email or password" | The e-mail address or password is wrong. We use the same message for both, for your security. | Check both, or reset your password. After several failed attempts you may be asked to confirm you are human, or to wait before trying again. |
If something on your account looks wrong, check Your recent security activity, then reset your password.
